The Gwillimdale Farms team was delighted to see their colleague Quinton Woods be recognized at an industry event on November 15, 2019 in Toronto where he won the Ontario Produce Marketing Association (OPMA) Fresh Award. This award recognizes young individuals who are determined to improve the quality, distribution or consumption of fruits and vegetables. Since joining our team as a business co-op student in 2011, Quinton has done almost every job in the business; from planting onions and potatoes to food safety. Today he is our sales and operations manager.
His commitment to excellence and hard work ethic has helped our family owned business grow to become one of Ontario’s largest grower-packer-shippers of root vegetables. Quinton travels to represent Gwillimdale at industry events, trade shows and meetings with key stakeholders. Creating partnerships with customers and suppliers in and outside of Canada, he has expanded sales opportunities which enables investment in new innovations for improved quality, year-round supply and improved environmental sustainability. He’s also involved with farm tours and presentations to educate others on best practices.
Quinton is continuously engaging and giving back to the industry as well; as a Director with the Holland Marsh Growers Association for 4 years, the past two as Chair. In this role, he contributes to OFVGA committees, the CHC and represents growers and packers on the committee for Canada Gap Food Safety.
We’re so proud to see him recognized for his achievements so far. Congratulations Quinton!
