Who We Are

Gwillimdale Farms is family owned/operated, based just 10 minutes from downtown Bradford. We here at Gwillimdale Farms do more than just grow vegetables, we are growing our business. We supply our produce both locally and abroad, working in tandem with food manufacturers, retailers, food service providers, and wholesale distributors. We believe our biggest asset is our team. We are always striving to build a better team and better work environment through continuing efforts in the areas of safety, education, and personal development.

Summary

The Grow With Gwillimdale Scholarship supports the next generation of leaders pursuing post-secondary education, with a strong interest in agriculture. This scholarship is open to all graduating Grade 12 students or recent high school/GED graduate (within the past two school years), who have been accepted into a full-time college or university program beginning Fall 2026. Applicants must be pursuing a career within the agriculture industry. Applicants must be residents of Ontario to qualify. Post-secondary schools do not have to be located in Ontario and may be any accredited post-secondary institution in Canada. Applications from those who self-declare as Indigenous, persons with disabilities and visible minority persons are encouraged.

One successful candidate will be awarded a $10,000 CAD scholarship, along with the opportunity to build an ongoing relationship with Gwillimdale Farms through mentorship, check-ins during their first year of study, and potential consideration for a co-op placement. The selected recipient will also be eligible for an additional $5,000 CAD performance award at the end of their first academic year, based on meeting agreed-upon academic and engagement criteria.

TO QUALIFY APPLICANTS MUST: 

• Must be currently enrolled as a Grade 12 student.

• Must be a resident of Ontario.

Be pursuing a career within the agriculture industry.

• Must provide a signed official transcript.

• Must be enrolled in a full-time 2-year college program or full time 4-year university degree for the Fall of 2026.

• Must provide proof of enrolment.

• Must provide program outline.

Submit a minimum 600-word essay explaining why you deserve the Grow With Gwillimdale Scholarship and outlining how you hope to make a difference in the agriculture industry.

• Submit a minimum 500-word essay about pressing challenges currently facing the agriculture industry and what innovative solutions are being developed to address them.

• Submit a minimum 400-word essay about how education and outreach programs can be designed to inform the public about how the industry is advancing. 

• Must provide 1 Letter of Recommendation from an employer, teacher, or community member. 

• Must provide extracurricular activities and volunteer work.

• Agree to participate in a virtual or in-person interview if selected as a finalist.

• Must allow Gwillimdale Farms to use their name and picture for the winning announcement.

• Agree to maintain communication with Gwillimdale Farms during their first academic year, including providing two progress updates.

• Submit all documents together in one PDF or Microsoft Word file.

• Name the file using your first and last name (example: firstname_lastname_application).
